Top Award for Ipswich Lion

Ipswich Lion Stephen Browne has recently been awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship.  Lion Stephen joined the Lions Club of Ipswich in 1994 and he became President in 1996 and again in 2014.

stephenStephen took on the role of treasurer, at very short notice (about an hour) in 2002. He must like the job he is still doing it!

He is responsible for the Club providing toiletries for patients and families who find themselves in St Elizabeth’s Hospice in an emergency. And he has also organised for the refreshments there for day visitors.

He organised a number of the “Go the extra mile” walks for Diabetes UK.

His President’s project for 2014 – 2015 was to raise funds for Canine Partners. These are assistance dogs that help with all sorts of activities around the house. Money was raised to buy a puppy, Sirus, who is now undergoing his intensive training. Stephen has also helped with funding the training of Jacob, another Canine Partner dog, who has been paired with a disabled man in Ipswich.

As well as all this he has been involved in all the other activities the Ipswich Club has undertaken in the last 22 years.
